What does CCLL mean to me?

A discovery, a journey into a new place, and a family.

I am pleased to say I joined CCLL last summer, and what a wonderful family they have become!  I came here fresh out of college, with a sense of the unknown lingering.  The Carnegie Center had offered me the opportunity to coordinate their middle school summer camps. It didn’t take long to discover just how wonderful this place is.  Not only is staff supportive and delightful to spend every day with, but a feeling of home has been established for me.  There is a certain energy passing through the walls of this historic building that I’m certain can’t be captured anywhere else.

I came to The Carnegie Center with a blindfold wrapped on my eyes, uncertain of what I was going see and feel.  At that point, I wasn’t even certain about the city I lived in.  Could Lexington be special to me?   The answer is yes!  I have learned more about myself as a person – what I value, what I aspire to do and become and how to go about that – all here.   The creative energy I have found here has been rooted.  I can assure everyone, I will carry it with me for the rest of my journey.

I feel fortunate to be a part of the special opportunities and events that occur under this roof, every day.  It’s hard for me to believe I will only be here until September, but I am certain I will return for many years to come.  This place will forever stand as an inspiration for all who are looking to learn, discover and feel a sense of just how special this community is.
